Dragonhaul
Everything I got from Dragonmeet in 2024
Troika! Pocket
costing zero pounds from Melsonian Arts Council
Troika! is such an excellent nonsense TRPG, albeit one that draws from the other Fighting Fantasy TRPG lineage than my own. Dan Sell might have the best moustache in UK RPGs.
Fun fact! I did the copyediting on this product too—but it’s free to everyone!
Vile Secrets stickers
costing two pounds from London TIN
Initially I was going to buy the Lost Archipelago stickers, also designed by Mikhail Malkin / ronamis, but I am a sucker for dark evil.
OSR business-card character-sheets
costing two pounds from SquareHex
I came to Dragonmeet wanting to pick up the A5 character sheet pads (for which I succeeded! see below) and as a fan of minimalism I could not not get these. Immediately my dice-goblin friend saw that I’d got some and rushed off to find the stall to join in.
DELVERS issue one
costing fifteen pounds from IglooTree
I’ve been following Sam Mameli / skullboy / better_legends for some time and this work since its inception, and I had been really hoping a copy of this would be here. I’m still in love with the thief.
A5 character sheet pad
costing one and a half pounds from SquareHex
This was my single best purchase from Dragonmeet last year. I’m down to the last few sheets and I had to get myself a refill. As someone who runs a lot of odnd from my head, these sheets go a long way to legitimise the game in the eyes of people who have only played 5E.
Eye Hath Not Seen…
Supernatural Anecdotes from the reminiscences of Father D. O’Connor
costing being beset by a mad-eyed loon in the upper trade hall
This zine was thrust into my hand by a man who then immediately fled the scene.
4thulhu
costing five pounds from All Rolled Up
Hyperminimalist Mythos games are my Herakles’ heel. This is an excellent example from Paul Baldowski whose Cthulhu Hack is one of the best ways to run horror investigations at conventions.
Tunnels & Trolls pin badge
costing one observed newsletter subscription from Rebellion Unplugged
This is a tactical gathering, as someone who is loudly trying to get Rebellion to hire me. I’ve got a Mankind Rating of easily 180.
Tunnels & Trolls pregens
costing thirty minutes of my evening
I ran U1 Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh in the morning gaming slot, as a modern day T&T game. To slim-down the rules, I swapped out the standard fantasy stats for SKILL / STAMINA / LUCK and gave each player some work, some play, and a deep seated regret. This genuinely feels the perfect way to explore this module.
NO FASCISTS ALLOWED sticker
costing OSR discomfort from Lost Pages
I’ve got other copies of this sticker. You can’t have enough. (Especially as I nearly adhered it in such a way to invert its message. D: )
Weird D4
costing euclidean discomfort AND one pound from Artemis Games
People have gotten too comfortable with how dice look. What’s more, this pairs perfectly with 4thulhu!
