Understandably, the Corporation is keen to ensure that sedition is kept to an absolute minimum across its multiple working arcologies. Often it can be done with relative simplicity — keeping on top of unions while they are forming and making sure there are enough counter-agents within the mix.

Such rote responses to labour organisation means the more sinister type of development — the one outlined here — often goes undiscovered past the point at which it can be comfortably dealt with. The most insistent of these known to Company records call themselves THE VALID BROTHERHOOD or THOSE WHO ARE OWED — or most often, THE BROTHERHOOD OF MURNA.

While MURNA sounds like some strange appelation for some chaos divinity it is actually an acronym: standing for Mutagenic Ribo-Nucleic Acid, of which you might recall from your studies on the lifeforms of Sol-IV and other True Organic Species across audited space.

Ostensibly, THE BROTHERHOOD OF MURNA is comprised of authentic bioforms despite the obvious variations in morphology they are likely to display and the peculiar changes to basic biologic processes. These changes are resultant from progressive applications of the MuRNA, which is accepted amongst the acolytes themselves, but is spoken of as a blessing that is bestowed by the “Sailors Beyond the Sky” — creatures classified by the Corporation as the bestial xenoforms of conformous consciousness called Despotids.

No strategic cohesion between these groups has been observed.

Roster

Roll D10:

  • 1 — 3 CANARY
  • 4 — 6 SHICER
  • 7 — 8 BRATTICE
  • 9 COAL — HEUGH
  • 0 SEAM — HEAD

CANARY CLASS

COMBAT thirty
INSTINCT sixty
WOUNDS one w/ ten points
ATTACKS overclocked tools D5[+]

Their name being drawn from the historical usage of songbirds in mining these are the devoted masses of the BROTHERHOOD, typically bearing but minor mutations that can be obscured by clothing and safety gear.

SHICER CLASS

COMBAT fifty
INSTINCT forty
WOUNDS two w/ fifteen points
ATTACKS pickax and mattock D10[+]

Even a cursory glance reveals the abnormality of the SHICER. It’s clear they are the leaders of groups of CANARIES acting as the intermediaries between the more typical members of the BROTHERHOOD and their betters.

BRATTICE CLASS

COMBAT seventy
INSTINCT forty-five
WOUNDS one w/ forty points
ATTACKS fused biohammer 2D10

Rather than being a further evolution from SHICER-types, most BRATTICES seem to be custom-developed for brutish purposes. They are typically an active bioweapon for the purposes of the BROTHERHOOD’s mission.

COAL─HEUGH

COMBAT fifteen
INSTINCT twenty
WOUNDS four w/ ten points
ATTACKS telekinetic blast-caps D10
RETINUE accompanied by D5 troops (roll D5 on roster, above)

Despite the many worlds where the BROTHERHOOD OF MURNA is in operation, never more than one COAL — HEUGH has been found in any one instance. They are the de — facto leader of the localised BROTHERHOOD cell. No two share the same manipulated morphologies.

SEAM─HEAD

COMBAT thirty-five
INSTINCT seventy
WOUNDS three w/ twenty points
ATTACKS sentient SMGs 3D10
REGEN recovers one wound each day
